FloorWizard Updates to Java 1.5
April 10, 2006
FloorSoft Released This Announcement to Their User Base Today:
On Monday, April 10th at 6:00 AM the FloorWizard Server will be switched to the latest release of Java (Java 1.5). Java 1.5 will enable the FloorWizard development team to take advantage of new capabilities from Sun Mircosystems. And, from our testing, it appears that 1.5 is a more stable environment. We already know that the change to this release will create a more reliable drawing tool, particularly as it applies to the calculations required to perform estimations of rooms with angled walls.
Many of you are already using Java 1.5. If you are, you do not have to do anything else (except check to make sure you have automatic updates turned off). To determine if you are using 1.5 (or to turn auto-updates off) go to your Control Panel (Start Menu) and click the Java Icon. Click the "About" button to determine if you are on 1.5.
If you are not on 1.5 you must uninstall the old version and then install the new version. To uninstall the old Java, go to Control Panel and click the "Add or Remove Programs" Icon, find Java in the list and uninstall it.
To install the new Java go to: http://www.floorsoft.com/fw.html and click the Java Plugin link. Then just follow the prompts (once installed, be sure to turn off automatic updates).
Remember, all computers that are being used to access FloorWizard must be converted by Monday, April 10th.
We are excited about the advantages of the new release of Java. You will notice some improvements to the GUI right away...it is much easier on the eyes.
